Contaminant-free, sterile air for both inlet and the outlet vents of process bio-reactors are required. On the inlet side sterility is required to insure product quality. The outlet vents must be contaminant-free in order to avoid possible release of pathogens into the open environment. In addition, the company has developed a passive foam-breaker for bio-reactors. When fitted to the downstream side of the reactor, the foam breaker effectively disrupts the hiccoughs and slugs of process liquid that are associated with foam-out conditions. Unlike expensive foam control agents that limit production efficiency and increase unit costs, the company's foam breaker is passive, requires no chemicals, or excessive maintenance allows production of full batch efficiency.
